As for the links, Michael just showed me how to insert those recently.
Type the word you want to activate the link.
Highlight the word.
Click on the 4th button in from the left. (It looks a little like a chain and a green ball).
Paste the web address in the window that pops up.
I hadn't even noticed that silly little button until it was shown to me.
